When do I need to go on high blood pressure medication?
I am 28 years old and 6 feet tall. I weigh 230 pounds and am actively trying to lose weight. I am in sales and sit behind a desk all day. I try and work out every day but it gets tough with two kids and a demanding job. Anywho, my BP is usually 145 – 155 over 80 -90 on days that I DON’T work out. On days that I do work out, it is 130 – 135 / 70 – 80.
Many people in my family take high blood pressure meds. I am trying to stay away from the meds for as long as possible. The majority of my family is not health conscious (especially those on the high BP meds) so I am not sure if they could get off them with proper exercise and diet.
So, my question is…knowing that I am trying to get to a healthy lifestyle…is there a breaking point where I need to just need to break down and go on the high BP meds??
Over 140/90 is the breaking point. 145-155 for systolic is too high. 80-90 for diastolic is OK.
Your systolic blood pressure seems to be your only problem. Your diastolic blood pressure is OK.
Perhaps you need to improve your diet.
Try a Yahoo search for “high blood pressure” + “natural remedies”.

Does Xanax show up on a 5 Panel Drug Test?
The 5 Panel Drug Test tests for cocaine, amphetamines, mamp(what’s that?), marijuana, and opiates. I am prescribed it, I just need to know if it’ll show up?
And what’s MAMP?
Xanax is a benzodiazepine, so I can’t see how it would show up, but if anyone can answer me asap it would be appreciated.
BEST ANSWER=10 points.
Thank You in Advance!
If you have a script for the Xanax, then why are you worried about it? All you have to do is show that it’s legal, and it’s as if it was never there (in the test results). By giving the test people the number of hte pharmacy and/or the Dr. that prescribed it, they will call to verify, and you will be fine.

What does it mean if your heart rate drops during exercise instead of rising?
I was at a friend’s last night and I tried out their exercise machine. It has a pulse monitor and before exercising my pulse was 76. I exercised pretty hard for a while and while still exercising it went down to 66 and stayed there untill I stopped. After stopping it went back up to 76-78.
I am 20, BMI of 19.5 and have a very physically demanding job which keeps me pretty toned and fit. But I have low blood pressure which makes me pass out at times.
So any ideas why m heart rate dropped?
Bump up your BMI, that’s the lower limit you’re on. See your doctor for a check up. There may be an electrolyte imbalance and basically your body can’t take the pounding you’re giving it. Are you super stressed? When are you taking a break in the hills?

ECZEMA and DIABETES 2?
For over 40 yearfs I had a very small patch of ECZEMA on my hands . In December 2008 I got DIABETES TYPE 2 …now after losing 2 stone and getting onto a fitness regeim all my functions Blood Sugar , l, Kidneys ,Liver etc are fine . However , my ECZEMA since the DIABETES onset is now ALL OVER my Body and although I use various lotions there seems to be little improvement in the condition.
Any advice on how I can improve the contol of the ECZEMA would be good . An explanation why the ECZEMA should erupt would help in my understanding of what has happened.
Many Thanks
I can’t see any link between your diabetes and it’s management and the deterioration in your eczema.
There are no cures for eczema, only managements. Here are a list of dos and don’ts:
Things not to do:-
Don’t use biological powders
Don’t use fabric softeners
Don’t use soap or detergents to wash with
Don’t use standard shower gels or bath additives
Things to do :-
Try Fairy Snow -the old fashioned powder
Use dryer balls
Use a soap free cleanser to wash hands etc.
Use a moisturising shower gel like Oilatum
Use a moisture bath additive like Aveeno
Use a good moisturiser like Aveeno
Use it very frequently, you can’t over-moisturise!
Use antihistamines for itch, a non sedative one like loratidine in the morning and a sedative one such piriton at night.
You may need to use steroids creams/ointments for flare up areas. Use the mildest you can, for the shortest time possible.
Sorry if you knew all of that already

Diabetic Nephropathy Diet?
Hello
My father is 71 and suffers from diabetic nephropathy, it is a kidney disease as a result of diabetes.
Our doctor encourage the rest of the family to start him on a strict potassium and phosphate diet. He doesn’t really specify what food to eat and not to eat. This become a problem. We have some idea on what food with low potassium and/or phosphate through surfing the web, but we are not sure yet.
I hope through yahoo answers a kind person can help us add our list of foods (vegetables, fruits, recipes etc) with low phosphate and/or potassium or If anyone can share their experience in this area please help me, so I can help my father
get better. Any food suggestions I would appreciate it.
Thank you very much for your help and answers.
Guidelines of a Low Potassium Diet:
Be sure to cook frozen fruits and vegetables in water; rinse and drain well before serving.
Liquid should be drained from all canned fruits and vegetables and rinsed before serving.
Potatoes may be peeled, sliced thin, and soaked in water for at least 4 hours or overnight before rinsing and cooking. Leafy green vegetables (collards, spinach, and kale) should also be soaked for at least 4 hours and rinsed well before cooking. This helps to significantly lower the amount of potassium in these foods.
Check labels for words that include potassium, such as potassium chloride, to avoid potassium hidden in foods.
Avoid salt substitutes; many of them contain potassium. Salt-free herb blends and spices are acceptable.
Limit foods that are high in potassium.

Is there anything I can do to reduce potassium in my diet?
• Cook frozen fruits and vegetables in water. Rinse and drain
well before eating.
• Rinse and drain all canned fruits and vegetables well before
eating.
• Check food labels carefully for ingredients that have
potassium in their name. There may be sources of hidden
potassium, such as some artificial sweeteners.
• Avoid salt substitutes—many replace sodium chloride with
potassium chloride. Salt-free herb blends and spices are

This is all I can find. It just tells you what is high so I guess all other veggies and fruits are fair game. Good luck.

Why are male prisoners given white socks to wear?
Why are male prisoners in all US prisons and jails given white socks to wear with their jumpsuit, when these end up looking dirty really quickly. Wouldn’t black socks make more sense, especially considering that a growing number of jails and prisons have a strict no-shoes policy indoors, where all inmates are in their socks for most of the day?
White socks are usually cotton & cut down on odor. Black socks are usually nylon or polyester that does not breathe like cotton & causes feet to perspire & smell bad.
Wa**ker in white socks.

Do Republicans hate seniors?
The Republicans are filibustering changes in the Medicaid part D, including forcing the drug companies to negotiate drug prices. This is from a drug trade publication:
Part D Drug Prices Rising Faster Than Inflation, Study Says
The lowest average price for the most frequently prescribed drugs increased at rate nearly four times that of inflation over the last year, according to a study from Families USA.
The study compared the lowest available Part D price for each of the 15 drugs most frequently prescribed to seniors in April 2006 with the lowest available price for each drug in April 2007. The drugs included the cholesterol drugs Lipitor and Zetia, the arthritis treatment Celebrex and the high blood pressure drug Plavix. (http://www.fdanews.com:80/did/6_80/)
Why are the Republicans forcing our seniors to pay premium prices for drugs. The VA is allowed to negotiate drug prices, why not seniors?
Most seniors are democrats. 38% dem vs 32% rep. The previous poster didn’t even answer the question, he just copied a bunch of unrelated crap about social security and pasted it. Great job. typpical conservative. If you don’t have a response, redirect and change the subject.
About the question..
I think it’s pretty reprehensible that they are blocking this type of badly needed reform.
