I need a recipe for a friend who is diabetic, Do you have a zucchini bread recipe ?

ALL MINE HAVE SOME TYPE OF SUGAR PRODUCT IN IT ! Thanks if you do , cause her husband is 73 and can’t have any sugar. I can’t find anything in the books I have.

Zucchini Lemon Bread Diabetic Recipe
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup packed shredded peeled zucchini
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup fat-free milk
1/3 cup canola or corn oil
2 large eggs, or 1/2 cup egg substitute

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350-degrees. Prepare a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with non-stick pan spray.

Combine the flours, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl. Stir in zucchini, walnuts, lemon zest, and cinnamon.

Combine the milk, oil, and eggs; add to the dry ingredients and mix until the dry ingredients are moistened. Spread evenly in the prepared pan.

Bake 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the bread stand in the pan for five minutes; turn the loaf out onto a wire cooling rack. When cool, cut in 18 slices.

Recipe makes one loaf.

Cold bug causing lots of peeing?

I’m getting over a cold (started with a sore throat on Monday after sipping from a co-worker’s drink on Sunday, and she’d been sick the week before)

It could be caused by dehydration. Drink more and you will need to go less often, but more when you do. Make sure you drink plenty of water- bring a bottle with you everywhere and drink a lot after excercising.

When you have a cold you lose a lot of fluids through your nose because it’s running all the time, so be sure to not only to rest, but to drink lots of fluids.

I doubt it will last very much longer. If it does maybe you should see a doctor.

Hypoglycemia causes seizures please advise me as to glucose readings?

My daughter was having a seizure around the same time of day. each morning around 10 am. Our general practitioner thought it could be hypoglycemia since it was around the same time each day! She was prescribed an Accu-Chek advantage glucose tester.I have read that fast changes in glucose level can also cause one to feel ill. Example of readings are:102mg/dl@6:14pm 113mg/dl @6:15pm 105mg/dl@66:16pm she was feeling like passing out and asked me to take it.
She also has change in nail bed color when not feeling well. this was diagnosed as raynauds BUT…she also has tingling in fingers, sometimes dilated eyes, throat describes as lion is biting it.so I assume a squeeze.

bulimia – blood pressure?

a few questions about bulimia.
do you have to actually binge and purge to be diagnosed bulimic?
because i dont binge, i just purge after meals and after eating anything, so would the doctor not class me as bulimic?

It sounds like the diagnosis “eating disorder not otherwise specified” (aka EDNOS) fits you better than bulimia. According to the DSM (the bible of psychiatry) – “The regular use of inappropriate compensatory behavior by an individual of normal body weight after eating small amounts of food (eg; self-induced vomiting after…)” is considered EDNOS.

While you do not fit in the category of bulimia, it sounds like you do have an eating disorder, which causes a host of problems, including the ones you describe.

It is likely that you are dehydrated if you are purging after eating anything. This leads to low blood pressure (there literally is not enough blood volume to be pumped by the heart at a normal pressure because of the dehydration). Dehydration and low blood pressure can also cause the funny vision, as your brain is not getting an adequate blood supply.

I know simply stopping seems an impossibilty. Been there. You can overcome this and you are worth the effort it takes to do so. Best wishes to you. Please, stay hydrated.

I bought a box and tried a pack in the morning and my blood sugar skyrocketed to 450 mg and it’s been high throughout the day even with insulin boluses. Vitamin C can cause high blood sugar readings in diabetics. I don’t know if it is an artificial high or not. There are a few other vitamins that cause elevated sugars. Research a little on line on lin-. Run an experiment on yourself. Try a partial package or smaller dose to test what you can tolerate without such a spike in BG’s.
