Can my medicine cause some sort of reaction to diet soda?
I am taking medication called glucophage, which is for diabetics usually, but i’m not diabetic (its also used to treat cysts). Lately, whenever I drink diet soda, i start to feel a little funny in my head, and i’m wondering if it has anything to do with the medication?
the only reason i think it is the medicine is because i’ve never been bothered by diet soda before, but i do consume A LOT
It’s the artificial sweeteners. Even people who aren’t on medication have a reaction to it. Stop consuming artificial sweeteners.

what are some of the fruits and vegtables that help with blood circulation and heart?
I have been using Cayanne pepper, but it gives me skin rash, and also Garlic, but garlic drops my blood pressure too low(I have low blood pressure to begin with)…and ginger upsets my stomach… so what can I use other then these 3 that I have already tried?
There aren’t many herbs (specifically plants) that help with circulation, but there are several nutrients. The biggest thing is that most of the fruits and vegetables can help indirectly because they have vitamins/minerals that are good for overall health, and when you’re healthier, that will include circulation… but not as much as certain nutrients that directly benefit circulation.
Some of the most effective and popular herbs for circulation are Hawthorn, Butcher’s Broom, Horse Chestnut, Ginkgo Biloba (for circulation to the brain, mostly), Gotu Kola, and of course Cayenne and Garlic (which you’ve already tried). The other main nutrients are Niacin (B-3), Fish Oil, Hesperidin, L-Arginine, and L-Ornithine. Good luck!

Did anyone watch The Scotland v England legends game on ITV 4 last night?
how disappointing, that we had to field John Wark aged 50, and Arthur Alibiston, god only knows what age. The English team fielded Graham le seux, paul Merson, Rob Lee etc etc. Where are our recently retired Players,?
Yep i agree, some of the england players had not long hung up their boots, and paul devlin who the fk was he ?
Football’s appeal comes from the vicarious joys of seeing huge men racing around a field trying to knock each other’s heads off, right? Not for the millions of people who grew up on the Sunday-morning highlight shows compiled by NFL films (which, through the magic of cable, can now be seen pretty much whenever you turn the TV on). The stylized slow-motion storytelling made the violence seem like a…
Elmer Bernstein, among the greatest of the golden age film composers, has lamented that there’s not enough “artistry” in soundtracks today. He abhors the pop hit collections that pass for movie music albums, and the man’s got a point. Perhaps he’d go for Horner’s score to Phil Alden Robinson and W. P. Kinsella’s fairytale ode to fathers, sons, and baseball. It’s as evocative as the film itself, a …

Blood pressure is measured in mm Hg (see textbook for conversion factor to Pascals). Two blood pressure values are given: systolic (peak pressure during a heart beat) and diastolic (pressure between beats). A typical blood pressure is 120/80 — that is 120 mm Hg systolic and 80 mm Hg diastolic. This a gauge pressure.
(a) If you measure your blood pressure and get 102/78, what are these pressures in Pa?
Systolic:
Diastolic:
(b) You are supposed to take your pressure with the cuff at the same height as your heart. How much (in mm Hg) lower is the blood pressure at the top of your head than at the level of your heart? (Use a height difference of 0.48 meters. Also, the density of blood is approximately 1050 kg/m3.)
This is very simple. Your blood pressure is in mmHg.
Systolic: (102mmHg x 101300Pa)/760mmHg =13595.53Pa
Diastolic: (78mmHg x 101300Pa)/760mmHg=10396.58
What is a good brand for a blood pressure reader? Or does it matter?
I am about to buy to my parents a digital/automatic wrist blood pressure reader off of the Internet. My question is if there are major differences between brands or pretty much any I get from eBay for example would be reliable? Thanks!
Hi Edgar,
Omron tends to make good units. Any unit can be damaged, though. You should always check a BP monitor against the human ear (in a Doc’s office). They can go out of whack too. So, this should be done annually. Stay away from the wrist type units. They’re easier to put on, but less accurate. W/a little practice, your parents will be able to use theirs easily. A decent monitor will run you about $60. Good Luck.

My mom is a diabetic and has alot of pain in her feet. She has a sit down job, but her feet hurt her all the time. Her doctor has her on a medicine called Neurotin, but she can only take it at night because she gets so sleepy on it. I know that if she had a better diet it would help her. I also tell her to walk on the treadmill thinking that maybe getting some bloodflow to her feet will help her, but she says that makes them hurt worse and she can barely walk from the driveway to her front door. Does anyone know of some natural things, or even other pain killers, or anything that might help her with her feet. I have heard of diabetics having to get their feet cut off and i do not want it to come to that, please help!
Exercise and healthy diet will cure diabetes. Her feet hurt during exercise because of lack of oxygen to the muscles. The more she exercises the better it will feel.

Hi there,
I went to the OBGYN two days ago, and they mentioned that I had low blood pressure(I normally have impeccable b.p). So I asked if that was bad, and she said “no”. Yesterday I was sick, and I’m pretty sure that it was stomach flu, not the baby, because my 5 year old stepson has been home for the last 3 days with the stomach flu. Could that be why I had low blood pressure? Because I was slowly becoming a bit sick. If not, what can I do to increase it. I would have asked at the Docs. but it was my first prenatal and I was just being swamped with information, so it just slipped my mind to ask. Thanks.
Low BP is expected in early pregnancy – it is much healthier for you and baby than high BP. If it wasn’t low enough to be of concern to the OB then you have nothing to worry about.
