Help about my dad! (diabetic)?

My dad went to the doctors recently and the doctors said he had type 2 diabetic. This was like 3 weeks ago. But now I can see that my dad has changed.

Depression is not generally listed as a complication of diabetes. However, it can be one of the most common and dangerous complications. The rate of depression in diabetics is much higher than in the general population. Diabetics with major depression have a very high rate of recurrent depressive episodes within the following five years. (Lustman et al 1977) A depressed person may not have the energy or motivation to maintain good diabetic management. Depression is frequently associated with unhealthy appetite changes. The suicidal diabetic adolescent has constant access to potentially lethal doses of insulin.
At this point in time, it is well accepted that psychological factors and psychiatric conditions can affect the course of medical illnesses. There is some suggestion that the stress of depression itself may lead to hyperglycemia in diabetics. The interaction between cardiovascular disorders (such as heart attack and high blood pressure) and depression has been extensively studied. Anxiety and depression can also affect other conditions including irritable bowel syndrome, headache and skin diseases. Treatment of anxiety and depression may lead to a better medical prognosis and well as a better quality of life.

Just tell him outright that he need help, Mentally and physically.

Can I use Tinactin (athletes foot cream) to treat a male yeast infection?

Hey, I keep having this reoccurring yeast infection. It makes me really itchy, especially on the inner thighs near my testies, as well as the scrotum, and the skin a little beneath that. Sometimes there is what appears to be a little irritated rash or something, but the minute I put some Tinactin on it, it helped right away, and minimized the appearance of a rash. I have never been able to be symptom free of this yeast infection for a few years now, and it’s a little embarrassing to go to a doctor for. Any suggestions? I am a diabetic too, and I find when I loose control of my sugars, it gets worse! Also, I am STI free.

You NEVER self medicate infections. NEVER. You can put something on it to make it far worse or to just make it last forever.

You can not use that cream to treat it.
Get up, get on the phone and make a doctors appointment. A simple round of anti-biotics will fix it.

I can’t believe you have had this for a year, have diabetes and still don’t grow a pair, go to the doctor and get it fixed.

I have a health related issue that im tripping about.?

I was at wal-mart and i decided to sit in that blood pressure machine. I checked my stuff and it said my blood pressure was 132 over 78. My pulse rate was about 86-90 beats per minute. Now here is the thing I am a hypochondriac and i tend to worry about my health more than other. It said on the chart normal was 120 over 80. However that is for adults I am 16 years old. I am a smoker. I know being a hypochondriac and smoking sound kinda stupid and makes no seance but I am trying to quit. I also have been up for 25 hours because I am in a sleep all day and stay up all night habit and so I made my self stay up so that I can get into a good normal sleep habit. I am wanting to know if I should go to the E.R. and get my self checked out or if i should just go to bed and not let my hypochondriac self get the best of me? Thanks for the answers

No, you don’t need to go to the ER.
In general, systolic readings of 120 to 140 are normal, and diastolic readings of 70 to 90 are normal. So your blood pressure is actual quite good. And your pulse is fine–a normal, resting pulse for a healthy adult is between 60 and 100 beats a minute.

Wine suitable for people with type 2 diabetes?

Am a type 2 diabetic currently on oral diabetic medication. Because of the so called health benefits offered by red wine, I would like to be able to enjoy a sip or two of the product with my meals to help cut down or to neutralze the fat contents of the food I take. Research has indicated that moderate intake of red wine can be beneficial to the heart health. The cardioprotective effect has been attributed to antioxidants present in the skin and seeds of red grapes.

It is believed the antioxidants, called flavonoids, reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in three ways by:

reducing production of low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (also know as the “bad” cholesterol)
boosting high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (the “good” cholesterol), and
reducing blood clotting.

It has been well documented that moderate amounts of alcohol can raise HDL-”good” cholesterol and thin the blood. This is thought to be one of the primary cardiovascular benefits from wine (red and white). Therefore, consuming one drink (defined as a 5-ounce a glass of wine) along with a meal may favorably influence your blood lipid profiles following that meal. But if you drink more than that, the possible health benefits will be lost and your health risks will go up. What matters with wine is the amount of wine you have.

Which wines should you consume to reap the most benefits?
Researchers at the University of California, at Davis have found the highest concentrations of flavonoids in Cabernet Sauvignon, followed closely by Petit Syrah and Pinot Noir.

White wine had significantly smaller amounts than the red wine varieties. The bottom line is the sweeter the wine, the fewer the flavonoids.

Dryer red wines are your best bet for a flavonoid boost.

How much red wine should I drink?
A four-ounce glass of wine is equivalent to one serving of liquor. Men may benefit from consuming one to two servings every other day. Women may benefit from one serving every other day.

vomiting and diabetic?

I need some help..I have been vomiting all day so far and not sure what to do anymore. I havent vomited since I was 5yrs old so I have never run into this issue while I have lived alone, I am now 21 and should know what to do from all the diabetes instruction i have had through out my life but who knows…. I am not sick as I have no other symptoms of anything. No fever just vomiting. Need advice on what to do. My doctors office is closed… I injected 6 units of insulin this morning and nothing else since i have been unable to eat, my insulin doses are on a sliding scale based off my sugar level as I do each time. Any ideas on what I should do?
I do have full coverage health insurance but there is no one but my dog here with me, if any of that helps. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

I was in the same situation when I was about 21 – I hadn’t been sick since being diagnosed with diabetes. I phoned out the out of hour dr – he said not to take any insulin if I didn’t eat, then I wasn’t happy with what he said so I phoned another dr – he said the same. By 3pm the next afternoon I was being taken to a&e in an ambulance and nearly died! You need to keep on testing your blood sugar and keetones – any sign of keetones you need to be taking insulin. If you can keep fluids down then drink sugary water or a sugary juice. If you can’t even keep fluids down then you should just go in to a&e, esp because you are on your own – if it hadn’t been for my flat mate I’d have died that time. They’ll put you on a drip – it’s anoying being in hospital but it’s better than dying! I’d just take a taxi right there right now – pack a bag and take some hypo sweets and keep them hidden from the nurses!! Last time I went into hospital they weren’t v helpful when I was hypo. Another helpful thing is to ask them to contact the diabetes team when you arrive. Hospital sucks but it sounds like you really need to go. Hope you feel better soon xxxx

No, it would not show up on a drug test. Even if you were around the person while they were smoking it, second-hand smoke will not cause you to fail a drug test.
