I think my blood pressure has always been on the low side, generally it’s 100/60. The last reading I had at the midwife was 90/50 and I am told that getting lower blood pressure readings during the second trimester is quite normal. I have always been prone to a bit of dizziness and occasional fainting but I have not experienced any worse symptoms during my pregnancy. I am eating very regularly, in fact I worry that I am eating too much as I am so hungry all the time and seem to crave sugar! My midwife didn’t seem concerned about the low blood pressure but it does seem very low to me. Just wondere if anyoen else has expreinced the same thing? Is there anything i can do? Is it harmful?
I was the EXACT same way! It really is completely normal, my blood pressure was much lower than normal while I was pregnant but my baby was born completely healthy and is still doing great! In fact I actually ended up having high blood pressure when I went into labor so that could have been much worse if my blood pressure hadn’t been low before then. The only time it would be bad is if it dropped so low that you can’t stand up at all or if you faint.

I’m 20 years old with hypertension. I was put on Atenolol on Saturday and my doctor told me to buy a digital blood pressure monitor and keep a log of my blood pressure. What I don’t understand is the pulse pressure….I thought it was the difference between the systolic and diastolic pressures. I took a reading and my blood pressure is 131/76(this is after atenolol) but it shows the pulse as 102. Shouldn’t my pulse be 55?

The pulse pressure is the difference between the systolic (top number) and diastolic (bottom) blood pressure. Sounds like your monitor is counting your pulse which is the number of heart beats in one minute.

I know the basics of what glass cockpits are, but i was wondering how it actually gets the information to the screen.
I know in conventional instruments they are all mechanically driven gauges (eg. altimeter and vsi use aneroid capsules to expand and spin the dials, and gyros are physically moving the arms on the gauges)
but with glass cockpits how do the gyros in particular work. (the pitot static pressure instruments are probably pretty straight forward with a digital pressure sensor reading the static and ram air as well as egt, fuel , but i was wondering if anyone knew anything more about the more complex instruments
