My dad is a diabetic who has Type 2 Diabetes. Recently, he had passed out at work right before he was leaving to come home because of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). He’s not sure, but he thinks that he might have been unconscious for about 30-45 minutes? He was found by a doctor (he works at a hospital) and rushed to the emergency room. He was feeling fatigued, weak, drowsy, he said he felt dizzy, and warm all before he passed out. When he was rushed to the ER, they had to give him a glucagon shot since he was unconscious and could not eat anything himself. What I was wondering was how long would he have lasted before he might have had anything serious such as brain damage occur or even death?
He had taken insulin a little before. But it wasn’t anything drastic since he normally takes this much regularly. I couldn’t tell you exactly how much that is, but he’s been cutting back a little recently since he hasn’t needed it much.

Okay so im up to here about some pre-labor & labor stories. & i have a few questions? I dont think im in active labor bc my contractions are regular. But, the past couple days ive been expierancing alot of gassy, crampy moments. Usually after the followed by a light menstrual cramp feeling and a dull back ache & feeling the need to number two but cant.. I’ve also had pressure in both bottom areas, some shooting pain in my cervix. I was 2cm dilated & 80% effaced as of last thursday, but since then ive been having alot of mucus( no blood though), does that mean im dilating and effacing more? No mean answers please? And any feedback would be greatly appericiated!:)

My mom is diabetic and 79 yrs old.Although is she is checking her blood sugar by herself using ‘One touch Ultra mini’.these days since they discontiued that bigger size one touch meter that was easy to read and see.since she is 79 her vision is not as good as its used to be,so she is not so happy and comfortable with this new one touch ultra mini meter, because of her poor vision and size of the meter,strip are too tiny she is wasting her many of test strips.Now she is very frustrated because later she will not have enough supply of test strips.What we can do about this now?what kind of other better meter she can use which is easy to read and use?will Medicare cover it again?any good detailed answer would be appreciated.Thanks very much.
If you call up the company they will send out a free meter if you ask or she could request one at her diabetes doctor. They do have meters bigger then the mini from one touch. The company makes most of there profits from selling the actual test strips so giving free meter handouts will increase strip sales. As for test strip supplies, they don’t have any larger ones. I recommend you tell her doctor that she is testing more often and that she needs more test strips. He will probably subscribe more for her. Also I’m not sure if Medicare will cover it but they also have meters with preloaded barrels that you put inside and they dispense strips automatically which sounds easier then fumbling with tiny individual strips.

The sex was a few weeks ago right around ovulation. It is still too early to take an at home pregnancy test, but I have already experienced one very early symptom, dizziness. I got blood drawn today to test for anemia and many other problems including a thyroid problem. The results won’t be in until Monday, and they will only call if they find something.
