Looking for inexpensive diabetes pump accessories!?

My two kids, an 11 yr. old girl & an 8 yr. old boy, are both diabetics & insulin pump users & I can’t find inexpensive supplies anywhere! I’m looking specifically for pump cases/holders/bags. They wear out so quickly & are so expensive to replace! HELP!

try the internet . try all the websites you can think of . also you might want to ask their dr where you can get some good ones . if the dr does not know then chances are his nurse does . good luck and i know it is hard having this . my dad and myself are diabetics but we dont use the pumps . we still use insulin and needles . good luck dear .

How does a doctor differentiate between type 1 diabetes and type 2…?

Also, are fasting blood sugar levels an accurate diagnostic test because i heard people with diabetes type 1 can have normal blood sugar levels from fasting but not after eating… is that true?
I know type 1 makes no insulin and type 2 makes little insulin but how does a doctor know? Are blood sugar levels higher in type 1 then in type 2? Is there a blood test to determine it?

the only real way a doctor can tell the difference, is if he runs a blood test to see if there are any ANTIBODIES present. If there are antibodies then you are type 1 diabetic because that means your immune system is killing your insulin producing cells with the antibodies. Type 2 diabetics do not have any anti-bodies which means they still produce insulin. OH and a person can have normal fasting blood sugars if that person already had insulin in him (like if he is a type 1 diabetic and still has long-acting insulin in him from the night before).

I started taking Diovan 320mg this morning for my blood pressure. Has anyone had any experience with this medication, and any side effects or issues that you can recall having.Please list any positive experiences as well.

It has done wonders for my blood pressure and also my heart, the dizziness will go away eventually. You must have really high blood pressure though, cause im on 160 mgs and mine was pretty high. Its a fabulous med for the heart as well.

Can type 2 diabetes be cured if it is still at a low blood sugar level with change in diet and exercise?

Cured would be the wrong word to use in this statement. But having the right diet and exercising routinely will make your diabetes more manageable. Achieving this, your body would not be so dependent on more insulin. Once it is controlled (may take at least a month to prove this), you may not need to monitor your blood sugar as much. is the glucometer broke?

My dad has concerns that im showing signs of diabetes, so he told me to do a test.
what he said to do was to have a sweet (in this case a small gobstopper i stole from my brother) then about 15mins after check my sugar. he said if it was under 200 then i was ok.
It was 192 the first time, so i thought seen as its quite high to do it again and it was 255!!! so i calmed down a bit and didi it again to make sure it was in fact high but it was only 93? i tested about two hours later to make sure it was ok and it said 130.
now i washed my hands be for this because my dad ranted on to me to make sure i did. He left me to do it myself because he was at work. so whats with all the wacky readings? is it possible the meter is broke, my dad booked me an appointment to be safe but i just wanted to know what you guys thought

Your blood sugar does NOT stay at one constant value all day. it varies, minute by minute, depending on WHAT, WHEN, adn HOW MUCH you ate, how much you exercised, your overall health (do you have a cold), and you mental health (are you stressed out, or extremely calm?).

Your father’s test was poorly designed, and the result are MEANINGLESS. IGNORE THEM.

DO IT THIS WAY:
take a reading first thing when you get up in the morning, before breakfast. it should be between 80 and 120.
take a reading 5 minute before lunch. Your reading should be between 80 and 120
Take a reading 5 minute minute dinner. It should be between 80 and 120.
DO NOT TAKE BEWEEN MEAL SNACKS!

if ALL of these readings are less than 150, then you are NOT diabetic.

Frankly. ONLY diabetics should be using the finger stick test. This test is for CONTROL of diabetes, not for DIAGNOSING it.

LEAVE YOU DAD’S METER ALONE!!!! Don;t do any more testing — let the doctor do it.

Type 2 Diabetes can sho up in ANYONE, even as young as NINE years old — but being overwieght is the deciding factor. if you had Type 1 Diabetes, you would be MUCH sicker than you are, and complaining about a LOT more problems. It is very doubtful that you have ANY form of diabetes.

STOP TAKING YOUR OWN READINGS!! They are confusing to anyone except a doctor, and only scare you (which raises your blood sugar!!!). take readings ONLY if the doctor tells you to.
