I have not been feeling well for the past four months. I have menstruation problems, stomach problems, and I am always tired. I have been diagnosed with IBS, but nothing seems to help that. I recently have been tested for many different problems including diabetes, hyperthyroidism, estrogen levels, testosterone levels, progesterone levels, UTI, kidney problems, blood count…etc. The problem with these tests are that I go to military doctors. They don’t give the results back unless something is way off the charts. I have tested my blood sugar and it has been between 190-250 every time ( the last time I did fasting sugar level and it was 234)…could I possibly be diabetic, or do these symptoms sound like something different.
Any information would be helpful.

Where can I find a tabletop blood pressure monitor?
I need one that is more like the type you can use for free at the grocery store except a lot smaller. I found one made by Lifesource (http://www0.shopping.com/xPC-Lifesource_TM_2655_Tabletop_Automatic_Blood_Pressure_Monitor), but it’s too expensive. It CANNOT be the type that is used on the wrist or finger and MUST NOT be the kind where the cuff is connected to the monitor by a hose/cord.

I’m 20 weeks and 2days pregnant. I just saw my doc on Tuesday so why didn’t he test me for diabetes?? I’m 23 years old but when I was 14 another doc did bloodwork and found out I may have a thyroid problem. I would eat one burger and gain 10 pounds. My baby is fine but can this affect him??
The glucose tolerance test is not done until the 28-29 week range, that is why you haven’t had it yet. I’m sure your doctor will order it, since it is a pretty standard test.
If you have a thyroid deficiency you should mention it to your doctor right away. If you’re not currently on any medications, then you might not have any problem at all and that doc when you were 14 may have just been trying to find a reason for your weight problem.
If you are on medication for your thyroid you should tell your OB immediately!! Either way, you ought to call your OB and talk to him/her about your thyroid concerns. You should be tested because, yes, a thyroid problem could affect your pregnancy.
