Is thyroid problems associated with having diabetes?

I’ve heard of it affecting the heart, kidneys, eyes, etc. but never thought about this question until I started seeing people on here being diabetic and having some kind of thyroid problem. I have an under active thyroid and have to take Levothyroxine every day for it. AND am diabetic also.

I am also hypothyroid on Levoxyl and diabetic. Thyroid disease can be auto-immune related, as is Type 1 diabetes. Many people do not actually have both, but several of us do. It’s not at all uncommon to have one or more auto-immune related illnesses.

Is this eye problem part of having type 2 diabetes?

Lately I have been getting sharp pains that feel like they’re coming from the inside of my eye, or like from my top eyelid. The pain lasts for about 10 minutes, my eye twitches uncontrollably, then after 10 minutes it’s just fine.

Is this caused by having type 2 diabetes? Is it stress? or could it be something else?
I do follow my diet very strictly now, but I do not take the pills the same time every day .. I will start doing that as well

Yes this can be part of your type 2 diabetes and I have the sharp pains as well. I wonder if you are taking your medications on time, the same time every day and are you careful to follow the diabetic diet so you do not eat to many carbs or sugars? If you don’t eat right you will continue to have these and more serious problems. Could cause you to go blind if you don’t take it all seriously. Be good to yourself.

High Blood Pressure and Problems.. Please Help!?

Hi, I have been dealing with high blood pressure problems for the past 5 years and have been trying to get it under control. I wanted to know, have my arteries been damaged already to the point where I may start getting serious health problems? I didn’t pay any attention to the problem the first couple years but then I got a wake up call last year and have been doing my best to keep it under control. But do you believe that I have already done damage to my heart? Please help!

There are many ways you can investigate it. Go to a local doctor and ask him to refer you to a cardiologist. Ask him also to recommend a Doppler ultra sound of your heart and valves. Id also investigate if there is any damage done in your body by doing a renal artery and kidney function ultra sound (2 hours before test drink 1L water) + Renal artery ultra sound (12 hour fasting).

It should show up whats happening in your body on a fairly basic level and its cheap.

Id also do a abdomen ultra sound too looking at everything else down there.

Ontop of all this you could try to get a 24 hour holter monitor for your blood pressure and 24 hour heart monitor. Again they shouldn’t cost much money and itll show a fair bit.
